A white line woodcut (or white linocut), also known as a "Provincetown print," is very simple to make and google shows how. I pulled some proofs using deep purple relief ink on colored pastel paper, saved a ghost print (pale and forgiving) on the same paper and then tried painting gouache (water soluble opaque water media) on top. Despite the relief ink being oil based, the gouache being water based, and the paper choice being unconventional for printmaking, not to mention the strong color, the experiment seems to have worked.
